Dr Deepa Govindarajan Driver is a trade unionist, university lecturer and an experienced finance professional with over two decades of experience at organisations including the UK regulator (FSA), both in continental Europe and in the UK.

 

She is interested in state and corporate accountability, the protection of whistleblowers, financial regulation and the qualitative aspects of risk. She has served as an independent expert advisor to regulators, banks, asset managers, civil society bodies and insurers. Her work has covered the adequacy of strategic decision-making and corporate oversight, examining model governance, and facilitating Board discussions on the definition and dissemination of risk appetite.

Deepa is an elected member of the national executive committee of the University and College Union (UCU). She is also an elected national negotiator on pensions matters on behalf of university staff on the £80bn pension fund USS (Universities Superannuation Scheme). Her career to date includes roles at Citigroup, Lloyds Banking Group, the Financial Services Authority (UK) and in consulting with clients of RiskDynamics (part of McKinsey), and of PWC.
